Window sill – The particle board has been covered in high pressure laminates and meant to be used indoors in dry rooms. The “dryness” of a room is characterised by the humidity of the material, corresponding to ambient air of 20 oC and relative humidity not exceeding 65%.

  • Window sills have been covered in 0.4–0.7 mm high pressure laminates (HPL)
  • The base plate is made of E1 quality particle board (PB)
  • The balancing material is underlying plastic (thickness 0.4 mm) or phenolic paper

This kind of a solution means that the window sills are highly durable and resistant to humidity. The special raised front has been made of humidity-resistant particle board, the stability of which has been ensured by a hot glue connection.

Maintaining window sills
Thanks to their compressed surface, window sills do not require special maintenance, but still need to be cleaned regularly. Organic cleaning agents such as acetone, petrol, spirits and so on can be used to clean off lipstick, shoe polish, floor polish, blood, bacteriological pollution, paint, oil, solvent, varnish, glue and other adhesive materials. Two-component varnishes, adhesive materials and synthetic resin need to be removed as soon as they come into contact with the laminate, as they can only be removed before they dry.

Glues, varnishes, oils, paints and other organic agents can be cleaned off easily by acetone, spirit or petrol. Attention! Follow the requirements of chemical safety when using such agents.

WARNING! Regular cleaning does not include scrubbing. Do not use scrubbing soap, brushes or friction sponges or sharp objects. You should also avoid polishing materials, floor-shine and waxes and cleaning agents that contain acids or acid salts (amino-sulfacide, hydrochloric acid, silver polish).

Installing window sills
Sills are installed with assembly foam and distance markers. Avoid mechanical blows on the surface of the window sill when installing. Joints will later be filled with silicone to keep the surface of the particle board humidity-free. Do not install the sills with humid materials (e.g. plaster). Water must be removed from the surface of the window sill immediately.
